ST MARGARET'S C OF E PRIMARY SCHOOL

Why choose a Church of England School?

Why choose a Church of England school?

Church of England schools exist for the benefit of the whole community and are inclusive of people who have a Christian faith, another faith, or no religious faith. At St Margaret’s we are distinctive in religious character. We have a clear Christian vision that underpins and shapes our teaching and learning. We aim to show love in all we do, with the impact of our vision being that pupils and adult flourish within our school community. The religious authority for our school is the Diocese of Southwark and we are supported by our Governing Body and the Southwark Diocesan Board of Education (SDBE). We aim to meet the Vision for Education as given by the Church of England. We are:

  • Educating for Wisdom, Knowledge and Skills
  • Educating for Hope and Aspiration
  • Educating for Community and Living Well Together
  • Educating for Dignity and Respect

What our children think...

What does this look like in practice?

As a Church of England school, our Christian vision forms the basis of everything we do, our curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities are designed to develop pupil’s characters and morality, hand-in-hand with their academic study. It is our core desire that pupils and adults are able to live ‘life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10).

Every pupil is treated with love, we welcome pupils of any faith or no faith to our school. We offer a rich religious education curriculum, which covers Christianity alongside a wide range of different faiths.

Daily collective worship is the heartbeat of our school. Through collective worship, we focus on 12 Christian values in turn. Each class has a spiritual area, which also provides a prayer and reflective space. We say class prayers 3 times a day: morning, lunch and at the end of the day. These can also serve as ‘check-ins’ to pupil’s wellbeing and displaying our Christian values in their lives.
