Remote Teaching And Study Time
How long can I expect work set by the school to take my child each day?
Based on government guidelines, we set remote education (including remote teaching and independent work) that will take pupils broadly the following number of hours each day:
Nursery: 1 hour minimum
Reception: 2 hours minimum
Key Stage 1: 3 hours
Key Stage 2: 4 hours
How will my child be taught remotely?
We use a combination of the following approaches to teach pupils remotely:
- The majority of lessons are pre-recorded videos. Some of these will have been made by your child’s class teacher, others will have been selected from national resources, such as White Rose maths and Oak National Academy.
- Lessons may also take the form of PowerPoint/Google Slides presentations with voice recordings.
- Teachers will also set an activity related to the lesson, which should be submitted via Google Classroom. This may be a quiz, a piece of writing or a photograph of some work. Children should submit their work after every lesson.
- For children in EYFS, activities that can be printed at home and links which direct parents to learning activities online are set.
