Pupil Faith Group
Pupil Faith Group
At St Margaret's our Pupil Faith Group consists of 2 elected representative members of each class from Years 1-6.They have an important role to play in our school community and regularly meet to discuss how to develop and improve RE, collective worship and champion our chosen courageous advocacy issues.
Our Faith Group members are undertaking a pupil faith leadership training program this year. The program helps pupils to grow deeper in understanding the Christian faith, our Christian vision and how it shapes all that we do as a school.
There are 3 award levels that educate and empower pupils to plan, prepare, lead and evaluate our collective worship.
Faith Leaders Level 1 Training
On Thursday 12th September, our pupil Faith Group was joined and supported by one of our past pupils who is now 18 years old and was one of the first ever Faith Leaders in 2016. It was under her leadership (Anna Hardie) that the Faith Group held a vote to rename the School Houses from colours to pilgrimages. They researched and named the Houses, that are still used today. Anna and Ms Sullivan, led the Level 1 training (that was written by Ms Hardie our RE Lead). All the children learned about the reason behind our theologically rooted vision, how we show this through our Christian Values and about the school house system and collective worship. They are now keen to be able to spread our Christian Vision and Christian values throughout the school this half term and they will continue to develop our courageous advocacy and Christian distinctiveness throughout the year. They will now also be responsible for setting up collective worship times and will begin working on their Level 2 training after October half term.
