French
‘A high quality languages education should foster pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world. The teaching should enable pupils to express their ideas and thoughts in another language and to understand and respond to its speakers, both in speech and in writing.’ (National Curriculum 2014 – Appendix A)
The ability to use language lies at the core of our curriculum at St. Margaret’s. The teaching of the French Language enriches the curriculum and promotes those life-long learning skills that our pupils are encouraged to develop. Through the teaching of French, pupils will acquire skills, knowledge and understanding on which they will be able to draw in the future. The acquisition of French will facilitate the learning of other new languages or improve their competence in an existing language, and contribute to their inter-cultural understanding.
