St Margaret’s is a Voluntary Aided School. This title means that it is administered by a Board of Governors representing the Parish, the Diocese and the Local Authority. They have a degree of control and responsibility in the running of the school, including responsibility for the buildings. They determine any improvements and enlargement to the premises, subject to Department of Education and Local Education Authority approval. They also have responsibility for setting and monitoring the budget, for the appointment of staff, oversight of the whole curriculum and maintenance of standards in the school. In return for the privilege of this aided status the Governors have certain financial obligations in respect of insuring the building externally and any external maintenance and improvements. They have to meet the cost of insuring the building externally and a proportion of the cost of any improvement. Parents are invited to contribute to the Governors Fund in order to meet the obligations of being a Voluntary Aided School. This scheme has enabled the fabric of the building to be well maintained and for many improvements to take place.
Our Chair of Governors is Revd. Clive Welham
